Abner J. Boles, III, Ph.D.

Chief Executive Officer

Abner Joseph Boles, III., Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist with an impressive background in health services. Prior to becoming Westside Community Services’ Executive Director, Dr. Boles was the Assistant Director of Planning for the Department of Public Health for the City and County of San Francisco. He has also served as the Director of Child and Youth Health Services.

Dr. Boles has founded and co-founded many programs designed to help people of color and disenfranchised populations, including the Family Mosaic Project, the African American Health Coalition, the Third World Mental Health Coalition, and the Critical Incident Response Team for the City and County of San Francisco. In addition, he was recently the lead consultant for a national initiative focused on the child welfare and juvenile justice needs of inner-city youth.

A much sought-after consultant and speaker, Dr. Boles regularly addresses issues of cultural competence, wrap-around care, integrated service system strategies for children and families, managed care, workplace violence, harassment, discrimination and racism, the effects of violence on inner-city children and families, and systems of care for children.

Duane T. Poe, MPA

Deputy Director

Duane T. Poe, MPA holds a BA in Political Science and a Masters Degree of Public Administration. Mr. Poe has extensive public-sector experience in a variety of areas, ranging from post-secondary education access and low-income housing to HIV/AIDS services. As a senior manager, he regularly uses his wide knowledge of social and health issues. Mr. Poe assists the CEO in all areas of agency management.

Mary Ann Jones, Ph.D.

Director of Clinical Services

Mary Ann Jones, Ph.D. is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with a background in program development, community mental health and clinical research.  Dr. Jones received her B.A. in Chemistry from Mills College and her Ph.D. from the Wright Institute in Clinical Psychology. She trained at the Georgetown University School of Medicine; Howard University College of Medicine; the State University of New York/Upstate Medical Center; and the 45th Street Mental Health Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was a neuroscience fellow at Harvard University through the Society for Neuroscience.

Dr. Jones’ areas of interest include cultural competency in behavioral health care; psychoanalytical theory and practice; and psychoneuroimmunology. She has been actively involved in cross-cultural health research and treatment, specifically women’s health issues and HIV/AIDS. Over the past fifteen years, she has worked internationally in Kenya, Sudan, Egypt, Ghana, India, Pakistan, Brazil and the Caribbean as an evaluation and research consultant.

Betty Abacan, C.P.A.

Chief Fiscal Officer

Betty Abacan, C.P.A. graduated from the University of the East in the Philippines with a BS in Business Administration. Under the direction of the Executive Director, Ms. Abacan provides Westside with leadership in all areas of finance and general operations. She functions as the principal fiscal officer in directing Westside’s financial and budgetary activities.

Prior to coming to Westside, Ms. Abacan as the Controller/Department head of Administrative Services for the Family Service Agency of San Francisco.

Ron Albucher, MD

Agency Medical Director

Dr. Ron Albucher has been a member of the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School since 1998. He is widely published and is currently the editor of the Patient Management Section of FOCUS for American Psychiatric Publishing, Inc. He is the Education Director of the VA Hospital Division in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has served in leadership positions on the Michigan Psychiatric Society Executive Board, most recently as treasurer. He is a member of Finance and Budget Committee for the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Albucher’s research interests include resident education, particularly psychotherapy and neuropsychiatric training. He is also interested in the psychotherapeutic and neurosurgical treatments of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Brian Williams

Director of Human Resources

Brian Williams graduated from Miami University with a B.A. in Political Science and an emphasis in International Business and has his Certificate in Professional Human Resource Management from Villanova University. Before becoming Westside’s Director of Human Resources, Mr. Williams worked for United Behavioral Health as a Training Administrator. He has also worked in an HR capacity for Charles Schwab & Co.
